In its simplest definition, nuclear medicine is the use of radioactive substances in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Unlike diagnostic radiology which gives anatomical information, it is learned about the structure and function of any organ with nuclear medicine methods. Generally, diseases can be detected before they become detectable by other radiological methods and clinical signs develop, that is, by early nuclear medicine methods. Thus, the disease can be treated more successfully and more successfully.
Very low amounts of radioactive material and radiopharmaceutical are used for nuclear imaging. Pharmaceuticals are substances which bind specifically to any organ, bone, or tissue when administered to the body. When connected with radioactive material, it takes the name of radiopharmaceutical and it connects to the organ that we want to be displayed and it is ensured by the gamma rays that the gamma rays are emitted due to the accompanying radioactivity. Images obtained by gamma camera are called scintigraphy.
Our clinic has been in service since 2008 and we currently have two nuclear type specialists in our clinic. There are also four technicians, four nurses, a secretary and one staff member.
In our clinic, there are two double-headed multipurpose, rectangular detectors, dynamic, static, gated, whole body and two gamma cameras that can perform SPECT studies.
In our Nuclear Medicine Clinic, there are imaging room, image processing room, effort unit, patient waiting room, patient sink, waste room, radiopharmacy unit-hot room, outpatient iodine treatment room, injection room and reporting department. The additional service building in Validebağ has Bone Densitometry.
